First Entries: My Expectation of Critical Literacy
The
lesson starts from the definition of Critical Literacy. That defines as the way
of human thinking in solving problem. Our brains have been divided into left
side and right side. In the right side we will discover our creativity,
musician, arts, imagination, and vision left eye and motor control left hand.
Others side we can see the part of mathematics, language, science, analytics thought,
vision right eye and motor control right hand. Next, there are 10 rules which are
topic, content, source, audience, rhetorical function, purpose, perspective, positioning,
impact, and visual literacy. Critical Thinking is "killer subject" that
is the first thing I heard about Critical Literacy from those senior.
Firstly,
I expected from this subject as complex, thinking beyond the box, difficult,
long explanation and memorise. My thought of Critical Thinking is half right
actually. However, lesson by lesson and session by session, I started to think
that Critical Thinking is not that difficult to think about because the subject
has to do with our daily life and relate to group dynamics subject. I am
totally agree with it because Critical Literacy learn us on how to reading
critically and I never thought of that. This has already become my habit when
reading an article. For example like the Marina Mahathir statement that I quote
"Najib is worse than my father" I has spot that this statement is
self-serving bias.
Therefore,
Critical Thinking is not that hard if we understand it better but if we not
work harder everything would be impossible. Thus, don't judge the subject
before we know the subject.
