Fifth Entries: "Prisoners to Get Varsity-Level Course"

Regarding to the newspaper excerpt dated 3 March, 2013 taken from New Strait Times. Firstly, I define prisons as a very strict place where you do not have enough freedom. Now people have the chance to study inside a prison. This would be beneficial for the prisoners. Some of the prisoners might not have a proper education. This could be a chance for them. Maybe by having a proper education, they might they otherwise in their action. They might think twice before doing anything foolish anymore.

Besides that, they can also have a proper job. With a certain qualification, job opportunities might be open for them. That is only if the employer does not think of them as an ex prisoner. This mindset is the reason why many ex prisoner to be jobless. They just did not have the chance to work. This program is a very good program. I agree on it. They will be given a chance to have an education as well as increased competency after serving their sentences. I think they will gain a lot with this program. They can be viewed as someone who has a proper education and not looked down into.

Therefore, it is good to have this kind of human support but how we can change the society perception towards this criminals.

Fourth Entries: "Proposition: Hollywood produces great movies, but they don't always tell the truth even it is based on 'true stories'."

Proposition: Hollywood produces great movies, but they don't always tell the truth even it is based on 'true stories'.
I totally disagree with the statement because even in Malaysian movies, the directors and producers exaggerate in their based on true stories movies. This happened when people only care for the money and the fame instead of telling others the truth. I also learnt that Hollywood movies are the same with the Malaysian movies, too.
First, the right movie is based on the history facts. For example like in "The Proposition" movie, starring by Ray Winstone as Captain Stanley and Guy Pearce as Charlie Burns. The stories start at rural Australia in the late nineteenth century: Capt. Stanley and his men capture two of the four Burns brothers, Charlie and Mike. Their gang is held responsible for attacking the Hopkins farm, raping pregnant Mrs. Hopkins and murdering the whole family. Arthur Burns, the eldest brother and the gang's mastermind, remains on the loose and has retreated to a mountain hideout. Capt. Stanley's proposition to Charlie is to gain pardon and - more importantly - save his beloved younger brother Mike from the gallows by finding and killing Arthur within nine days. This story has been label as violence and this Australian western is the one of the best example of the western outlaw at Australia.
Next, the movies have the correct data and event. For example like in "Company Of Heroes" movie, staring by Alastair Mackenzie as Chambliss the new sniper. The stories start with During the last major German offensive of World War II, a company of American soldiers is lost behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge and they make a horrific discovery - Hitler has a super bomb in development. The soldiers soon learn about a secret allied mission to retrieve a defecting German scientist in charge of a Hitler's weapons program. Faced with impossible odds, the company and an escaping POW go on a daring raid into the heart of Nazi Germany in pursuit of the scientist. From the stories, we can see the correct of battle of Bulge and the Nazi's secret weapon.
Therefore, I disagree with the statement based on the movie I movie I watch. Thus, the statement is half-claim and lack of evident to proof the statements.

Third Entries:STEREOTYPING

Stereotyping could be defined a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. People likely to hold stereotyping comment on things based on their own point of view.
In my opinion, we as human love make stereotyping judgment. We have been practicing stereotype concept to differentiate people based on their image, action and behaviour. Moreover, this stereotyping scenario is influence by culture. However, the belief that we derive from our stereotype point of view may not accurately reflect the reality. Sometime what we see doesn't as it seems and it could surprise us in a positive or negative way.
Take stereotyping people with learning difficulties, for example. People usually assume that people who suffer from learning difficulties are stupid and it is almost impossible to educate them. They are also considered as pathetic and incapable of fully participating in everyday activities, always being the butt of jokes and also a burden to everyone around them.
Therefore, there's a saying, silence is gold. In my opinion, these stereotyping must stop. It is not appropriate to label someone based on what they look.
Second Entries: "Baby-for-sale racket, money can indeed buy happiness"

The statement is well bold point view of the writers because the writer said that "baby-for-sale racket, money can indeed buy happiness". This thing is something that we cannot stop because it has their sentimental value and a lot of reason. However, my stance is to stop this "JAHIL" or inhuman activities.
Every of this child would like to grow in their own parents not foster parents. Selling one new life isn't it cruel? The responsibility is given for us and why we transfer it to another people who we do not know who they are? We might think that the child will have more opportunity to live in better future. As for me, there are no acceptable reasons for parents to sell their babies. Not only that, it is illegal for our country as it will gives negative effect such as children trafficked for sex once the babies are grown up.
Therefore, let's think about the babies' future if we simply sell them to strangers that we do not even know their background. Awareness of this issue is needed for us to be more sympathy towards the babies.

What We Expect From Critical Literacy

First Entries: My Expectation of Critical Literacy

The lesson starts from the definition of Critical Literacy. That defines as the way of human thinking in solving problem. Our brains have been divided into left side and right side. In the right side we will discover our creativity, musician, arts, imagination, and vision left eye and motor control left hand. Others side we can see the part of mathematics, language, science, analytics thought, vision right eye and motor control right hand. Next, there are 10 rules which are topic, content, source, audience, rhetorical function, purpose, perspective, positioning, impact, and visual literacy. Critical Thinking is "killer subject" that is the first thing I heard about Critical Literacy from those senior.

Firstly, I expected from this subject as complex, thinking beyond the box, difficult, long explanation and memorise. My thought of Critical Thinking is half right actually. However, lesson by lesson and session by session, I started to think that Critical Thinking is not that difficult to think about because the subject has to do with our daily life and relate to group dynamics subject. I am totally agree with it because Critical Literacy learn us on how to reading critically and I never thought of that. This has already become my habit when reading an article. For example like the Marina Mahathir statement that I quote "Najib is worse than my father" I has spot that this statement is self-serving bias.

Therefore, Critical Thinking is not that hard if we understand it better but if we not work harder everything would be impossible. Thus, don't judge the subject before we know the subject.
